I  highly encourage parental involvement, even  if you have never learned Spanish before!  There are several things you can do to help your child succeed in learning a language:

  • The most important thing you can do is make sure your child is studying the new vocabulary lists each night for 10-15 minutes. I recommend that your child make flashcards. When you have a free moment, quiz your child on the vocabulary to see how s/he is progressing. We typically spend 2-3 weeks per lesson, so students should master the vocabulary within 2 weeks of starting a new lesson. Students can also use Conjuguemos.com to study vocabulary.

  • Check Skyward! Most assignments can be turned in one day late for half credit. Long term assignments will NOT be accepted late. While it's difficult for a parent to help their child make up missing work with a one day deadline for half credit, you can check to see if your child is developing a pattern for not completing work.

  • Encourage your child to access Moodle, especially when absent from school. It can be difficult for students to catch up in a foreign language class, especially during a longer absence. Students can view the daily lesson plan, assignments, and practice links on Moodle.

For detailed information,  please access my Moodle site.  On Moodle,  students can view current assignments, access practice links, download documents, post questions, etc.   Parents, if you'd like to view/access the Moodle site, you can use your child's username and password to enter.
